Challenge: Setting up a streamlined data infrastructure.
Bolletje, who didn't grow up with it? Originally a baker of rusk, but now also a producer of knäckebröd, breakfast crackers, gingerbread, breakfast cereals, pepsels, rye bread, biscuits and gingerbread for many years. The company has a long history as a baker and has its roots in Almelo in Twente, from where distribution to customers also takes place.
Data insights for more efficient production
Automation and therefore having insight into data plays a crucial role for companies like Bolletje. The ability to analyze data helps them produce and distribute more efficiently, which reduces costs and improves quality. Furthermore, data analysis helps to understand customer preferences and market trends, to better respond to demand and develop innovative products. Clemens Hoek, ERP business consultant: “Data analytics enables our company to make well-considered decisions, stay ahead of the competition and stimulate growth in an ever-changing market environment. For that reason, business intelligence plays an important role in our team.”

More data, more reporting
Like many companies, Bolletje realized that their IT environment, which mainly consisted of legacy and custom systems, needed to be transformed to make the company more agile. For that reason, the company switched to the ERP system Microsoft Dynamics AX in 2017 to organize, automate and optimize processes. This transition resulted in significant changes in the BI landscape. Clemens Hoek: “Simply put: our entire reporting landscape collapsed, so we had to redo everything. Attempts to fill the gaps in reporting with a ‘ready-made’ reporting tool were unsuccessful due to the lack of coverage of the information needs and the poor visualizations, which in turn led to the need to develop specific applications for Bolletje.
